Bolt in bid for more attention, cash and continence pads
Predictably, another big mining company has threatened to hold its breath until it turns blue.
A well-known rupertblogger, who for reasons best known to himself has thrown in his lot with the mining industry (and the Liberal Party), asks in response:
How long can Kevin Rudd go before backing down on his super tax, too?
That would probably depend on how many people there are like Andrew Bolt who’ll wet their pants every time a mining company pretends it’s not going to shovel money out of the ground.

One really feels sorry for such mining behemoths. The reaction is entirely predictable and pathetic. It's just a little difficult to believe Little Johnny Mining Inc. packing up its explosives and shovels and running somewhere where the extractiopn is more difficult and costly though without a new tax. Imagine leaving all those multi millions in the earth unexploited??
This is the same tripe run back in the early nineties when the employer unions ... er, sorry, organisations... told all and sundry that business would cease in this country if a national superannuation scheme - at 3% - was introduced.
We're all still here at 9% going on 12%. I rather suspect the profiteering extractors will still be tearing up and exploiting the landsacape in 10 years.
You can count on it.
But you do realise don't you, Michael, that we are now fanning the embers of "class warfare and envy" here, by virtue of being sceptical about the pants-wetters' concerns.
"Are you now or have you ever been a member of the communist party?"
Confess!! Confess!!
Communist party?? Moi?? Nooo...
I have, though, seemingly joined the church of the Venerated Explioted Extractiopn.
Have to check what I'm putting into my coffee.
