Blair Effect misses Al Gore Rhythm

Good grief — Icy blast heralds winter in Melbourne !!!

Victorians should expect a brutal welcome to winter with strong winds, cold temperatures, rain and snow predicted for the next few days.

Okay, we know it must be on the Muftim’s Tim Blair’s mind, so I’ll say it for the tiresome little whacker:

Forget the chill, our planet is just five years away from climate change catastrophe !!!

Thing is, Mr Blair’s meticulous tracking of the Ice Man last had Mr Gore in South America.

Einstein supposedly said that when the honey bees are all gone mankind will have 5 years left.

There are still some honey bees!

*Phew*

Hadn't seen that particular Einstein pearl, Caz. I like it.

Bit of a worry, then, about those disappearing bees in North America. Seen anything more on that mystery?

No, but now that I'm aware of what Einstein had to say, I should at least try to find out why honey bees are the signifier of the end of human kind. It won't be the canaries that stop singing, but the bees that stop buzzing. Curious to understand why Einstein would have singled out bees as the penultimate sign.

WRT the disappearing bees, there are still those that suggest it's the GM / pollen problem, which has a ring of logic to it, but not everything is intuitively obvious. Indeed, much "truth" is counter-intuitive, so we wait for continuing research.

The Aussie bees are still good: perhaps it will be the end of times for the rest of the world, but we'll be right? Apart from the billions of refugees trying to land on our shores, of course.
