Muftim philosophises

There’s been some interesting, um, philosophical discussion over at the Muftim’s Tim Blair’s recently.

First, there was a novel speculation about Janette Howard’s status as the Prime Minister’s wife, in relation to the awarding of “million-dollar government contracts”; followed by an army of straw men mowed down under the scythe of Mr Blair’s critical scrutiny.

Fascinating stuff!

Although you do have to appreciate the Blair spin:

"Yep; sure is tough deciding between million-dollar government contracts or becoming the Prime Minister’s wife. It’s happening in households around Australia."

Tee, hee.

When Blair skewers, he never misses.

Not that Garrett would much understand the joke. He's not a man who needs a parliamentary salary for his old age. :-D

Yeah, he's the Spin King, alright.

I dare say he wouldn't have spun it that way had the successful wife been that of a conservative prime ministerial aspirant. We might instead have had a bit of faux outrage about politics of envy, or somesuch.

Hey, how long do you think Garrett will last in Parliament? I'd envisage he'll see out a couple of terms before he realises the 'art of compromise' is not for him.

Then he'll write his memoirs, titled The Longest Gig. The opening passage reads, "I've never played a tougher crowd..."
