Yep, these guys again. A uniform group, like a typical homogenous blog membership.

Err, so what you're saying is that this is a group portrait, umm, of us?

I don't think the few who visit here could be described as in any way 'uniform', Caz. No, I was thinking more of certain other fora, but of course the danger for just about any blog is that it may polarise one way or another. Some, of course, are deliberately so.

My little guy caught a glimpse of the goat pic, just before the comments box appeared,
Jarcob.

He said "Wanna see the dogs again."

It made me think though..

Harry's has certainly gone to the dogs I reckon.

What with Damian, Lyvers and Amazigh. The clowns!

Mind you, though, the term clowns is probably an oxymoron for this dour trio.

Arrh, see!

Last time I said they looked photo-shopped, and 'there ya go': turns out they're really dogs, photo-shopped to give the appearance of goats!

Ha! Can't fool me.

Or Kathy's little fella!

I think when the blogger-host posts a picture of the Club Chaos sign for the 152nd time, for no reason, then, yes, the point has been reached at which the dogs are howling and have chewed the abandoned furniture all the way down, so that only a few matchstick sized remnants remain.

Oh... how embarrassing.

The old 'dogs-masquerading-in-goat-suits' trick.

And I fell for it! That's the second time this week.

Er, maybe CC has become Club Canine.

Can't work Lyvers out. I think maybe he's caricaturing Damian's epithet-hurling tendencies, which might be funny for the second, third, even fourth time... But jeez, why would anyone bother beyond that? It's become bloody morbid.

Thought (for a nanasecond) of posting a piece on the election - you know prediction/reasons/watershed type thing - but, as contributor status is removed no can do.

Will only have garnered the usuall reaction. Though, due to the current abuse-fest masquerading as the all consuming Israel/Palestine/Darfur thread, it will most likely have been ignored.

The appearance of the "Club Chaos" picture is to the blog's health what a smallpox pustule is to an otherwise healthy individual.

Can't think why you can't put up a watershed election post right here Father Park. I would be most interested.

Jacob - as Maxwell Smart would say: "Ah, the old spy in a dog trick".

Or in this case: the old dog in a goat trick!

Oh, only that I'd been so relentless for so long that it seemed the place to put it. You know, the other side so to speak.

I'm just in from pool cleaning, lawn mowing, tree timming and general taking care of the Rectory greenery. All of which - as much as is possib;e - is edible. In the middle of it actually.

Perhaps a six-pack of black beer and a piece later?

I see the next extension of the NT intervention is being promised: JWH will "take control" of the welfare money of those who use drugs. I will read it later and see what it defines as a "drug user", "addict" or, indeed. welfare.

Would that mean that one of Malcolm Turnbull's constituents, "addicted" to a "drug" will have his/her 30% health cover rebate witheld?

I gather they'll be given food and rent vouchers, or such.

That's across the board, not just for the NT ... I think.

The new target will be white urban families.

"We are the zero-tolerance coalition when it comes to drugs," Mr Howard told reporters in Sydney.

"It's not right that people should have control of taxpayer money when they have been convicted of such offences."

Mr Howard said the policy would mean such offenders would not be able to spend their welfare money on hard drugs or indeed on drugs like tobacco and alcohol

Oh yes: it's across the country. You get the distinct impression that this hasn't actually been thought through terribly well. people on welfare, done over an amphetamine charge, looking for other sources of income.

And they can't spend on tobacco and grog. I suppose we'll have to dob.

Justin and I are stuffed: our alcohol use will will be well known to the new zero-tolerance Coalition. Even worse, way back in 1982 I was convicted of an drug offence: 0.06 and behind the wheel of a car.

I expect my 30% middle class welfare health subsidy to be canned forthwith.

The PM is absolutely desperate for something - anything - to hang his opponent on. He needs a miracle. He needs something more than this.

Mr Henry, of the treasury, warned us it was coming....

This is more dumb-minded than I realised.

The target group is welfare recipients (with or without children) who have been convicted of a drug offence????!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, big sigh of relief for all welfare dependent drug abusers who have never been convicted of a drug related crime, and that would be most of them.

A total piss off for welfare recipients who have been convicted of a drug crime but don't use drugs themselves (yes, there really are such people).

All very strange.

Wrong word: all very desperate.

One wonders what might transpire were a Newspoll or Galaxy poll to indicate this week that the one or two percent "firming" of the government vote had drifted away again?

It could be said of any election but why is it that this becomes Coalition....er sorry, the zero-tolerance Coalition...policy a week out from an election?

More to the point, a week out from an election where twelve months of polls indicate the electorate is taking a zero-tolerance view of a hubristic PM and an increasingly tired looking government.

Only desperate if one assumes that voters lose sleep over the "hoards" of drug addicts on welfare.

I don't think any voters have ever lost sleep over this.

Most drug abusers / addicts are not on welfare. Most of them have normal jobs, and a minority have lucrative criminal pursuits.

Howard prides himself on being able to "read" the electorate.

He should have bought new glasses long before this campaign started.

I don't know what buttons he thinks he's pushing: none, would be my thought.

An electorate is fairly simple to read when you've a clueless, inept opposotion. That all changed last year. JWH needs an entirely new prescription.

Howard's busily stimulating the jerky knee. You know, the one that jerks at the mention of professional mothers bludging on welfare; dole cheats; "housies" that live off your taxes etc. He's hoping he'll get the "Yeah, mongrel bloody druggos! Piss 'em all off to jail. And while he's at it, piss of the women making a living outa havin' babies and all them rag heads that know how to rort the system!"

You know the knee.

Getting close to actually writing something on this election....unless I go to sleep on the front lawn with my last remaining beer. Oh well, the thunderstorm that's approaching out to wake me.
