Goat Friday

Did you know...

  • Each year, over 6,000 people are traumatized by goats in the United States alone.
  • If a child is traumatizsed by a goat before age five, he/she is five times more likely to become some form of social deviant. ...
  • The majority of goat traumas occur before age eight and after age fifty-two. ...

These disturbing statistics and more are asserted by the Childhood Goat Trauma Foundation.

CGTF is a US self-help group “created in 1982 by a small group that originally came together as an informal support group for problems that were the result of traumatic experiences at petting zoos as children.” This laudable group is another shining example of the infinite capacity of humans for caring and sharing.

Note that they also share some rather disturbing images of goat trauma, as above, regarding which the feint-hearted should consider themselves duly warned.

Anything's possible in this goat-ravaged world, Kath. I'd never before imagined the shocking scale of this problem.

We urgently need some solid research into the problem here in Australia. And an Australian chapter of CGTF to help and support Aussie victims of those damned murderous goats.

After last week's effort I was relieved to see such an innocent and cute-um goaty pic, but oh, wait, turns out it isn't!

The "Clowns are Evil" support group, I can understand, but this goaty fetish seems to have no limits, for the lovers or the haters.

PS - there's a link to the clown site on my link list. I like their t-shirts.

Yes, goats seem to bring out the best and worst in human people, as this Goat Friday series would attest.

It's all a riddle wrapped in a conundrum wrapped in an enigma. Or something.

I look forward with dread to the next instalment...

*Sniff*

I thought I was onto a sure thing with Duck Friday.

How could it fail?

Feathers.

Fluffy butt fans.

Colour.

Movement.

Plastic.

There, there, now Caz... Duck Friday is safe in your sure hands, and never a more enduring certainty there'll be than Duck anyday.

I'm saddled with my Goaty Theme, and in truth I fear for where this will lead. As we've seen, there's goat abuse by humans, human abuse by goats, and every week the fear and loathing are ratchetted up inexorably.

This goat thing has proved more than my poor stewardship can bear, and sooner or later there may come a breaking point of no return where it becomes beyond me.

Ducks, on the other hand, are timeless, transcendant and evergreen. Ducks are cool. They represent every wo/man. There's nothing ambiguous about a duck, even with your latest daunting, red-eyed candidate.

No, the spell of Goat Friday can only be broken if every child in the world cries out, in unison, "I BELIEVE IN GOATS."

Then the curse of the goat would be lifted. Capranthropy, which I know in my bones is behind this scourge of goat trauma, would be no more. And goats and humans could live in perfect harmony (better even than humans and humans).

Hmmm. Maybe, just sayin' is all...
